Suzanne Smit, vivacious owner and proverbial ‘Country chick’ opened the doors to a Deli, followed by a gift shop called Little Chic, after receiving a box with a hen and her ‘adorable little chicks.’ Gifted with huge amounts of energy and daring, she started to rear chickens on a commercial scale.

Starting with free-range eggs (no hormones or antibiotics), her range soon included homemade chicken pies, braai packs, chicken mince and much more.

Soon outgrowing space for all her produce, the Country Chic moved to larger premises and today includes a second shop, Little Chic, when the gifts in the Country Chic started growing in popularity and outgrew the shelving space.
